Abstract: I will present a very simple, but effective technique for boosting the tester’s creativity in designing good, strong test cases. I will show how this technique can be applied in real situations, revealing defects in widely used applications like Google Calendar. I will also present the empirical evidence supporting the effectiveness of this method.
Bio: Adam Roman, Ph.D., is a professor of computer science at the
Jagiellonian University in Cracow (Poland). His research interests
include: effective test techniques, software quality metrics & models
and mutation testing. He authored several books and papers on software
testing, including ‘Thinking-Driven Testing. The Most Reasonable
Approach to Quality Control’ (in English) and ‘Software testing and
quality. Methods, techniques and tools’ (in Polish). A proponent of
rational acting based on logical and system thinking.

Abstract: Our goal in this presentation is to share with you as well as with all those who want to participate some of our valuable experiences in risk management.
What are we going to talk about?
- What types of risk there exist in testing projects and in the products to be tested.
- How we can identify those risks and our best practices to mitigate them.
The cornerstone of our success is making a collaborative effort, which involves both the IT area and the business areas.
Our premise is that ‘if we don’t manage risks, they will manage us’.
Bio: My name is Alfonsina Morgavi, I have been involved in software quality assurance and quality control for about 25 years. I am a certified engineer by the Quality Assurance Institute. Since my beginnings in the field, I have built and developed testing teams. Currently, I am Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer / Founding Partner of QActions and Representative for Argentina to the Hispanic America Testing Qualification Board HASTQB committee.
I am a regular speaker at national and international conferences and I am responsible for managing innovation in the short, medium and long term. I also work as a collaborator in the Software Quality Commission at CESSI, and collaborator in the Software Quality Standards Commission at the IRAM Institute and I am a TMMI Foundation Member.

- Exploratory testing is about exploring, finding out about the software, what it does, what it doesn’t do, what works and what doesn’t work
- Exploratory test charters are used for keeping track of what you are testing and the exploratory test session’s findings
- Exploratory testing reduces the risk of major defects in the product and increases the confidence of all stakeholders
Bio: Amanda Logue is a highly successful Senior test manager who has defined organizational test policy, selected and implemented appropriate test strategies and assessed test coverage and proposed best practices to meet BMM’s Quality Assurance (QA) testing business objectives and quality goals for multiple clients.
At BMM, Amanda serves as an expert in all areas of gambling QA. She has successfully run Class II, Class III, VLT, remote and online gaming, and lottery QA projects.
Amanda is also the Director of Marketing for the Canadian Software Testing Board, the Vice-Chair of the Testing Body of Knowledge working group of ISTQB, and the co-author of the Gambling Industry Tester Syllabus.
